Fashion Design – Retro Fantasy

Due to the pandemic during summer 2020, my credited course at Cornell University got converted to an online course called “Fashion Design & Visual Thinking”.

During the course, I developed a line of clothing for S/S 21, where I want to bring a sense of longing for childhood and longing for being able to go outside freely. 

I believe that middle-aged women should still be able to confidently wear clothes that have a youthful color palette, in which I chose to be represented by a fanciful amusement park theme.

I created three looks inspired by Christian Dior’s New Look launched in 1947 and employed asymmetrical cutting techniques to add some young and hip elements, and at the same time created a slimming and elongating effect.
