Jewelry Design – ZStone Terrace Farm Mount Everest Indigenous Spirit Jade culture has been a vital part of Chinese history. Fewer people, however, are wearing jade jewelry nowadays. The main reason is that the majority of the jade designs on the market are still limited to traditional patterns, for example, the shape of a buddha or a simple beaded bracelet. I interned at ZStone jewelry company (summer 2018 & 2019), the largest and the first company that is known for its successful integration of contemporary designs into traditional jade jewelry. I worked with the company to refine traditional designs, let jade reach younger generations, and encourage people to embrace this unique stone that has been rooted in Chinese culture for thousands of years.I rotated through different departments (in headquarters in Shanghai) and visited the production line in the factory. I gained experience in the whole process of production: from idea to 3-D print model to sale. Inspired by my AP Drawing concentration, a few of my designs were approved, manufactured, and sold online.
