Architecture – Tea House I used the modular constraint of the Sukiya’s tatami-mat layout system to create a spatial invention of a contemporary tea house. In the tea house, traditional Japanese elements like the ro and tokonoma are included. I intend for the space to be constructed upon water; the two rock steps on the right would be half immersed in water. As the guests enter the space, there will be a transition from the outside to the inside. Large glass walls will also placed to have the guests better connect with the surrounding nature.
